Born on 21 January 1674 Edward Bagot was the eldest surviving son of Sir Walter Bagot. He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford and at Middle Temple.

On 15 April 1697, he married Frances Wagstaffe, daughter of heir of Sir Thomas Wagstaffe, who bore him two sons and two daughters. He was first returned to Parliament as Member for Staffordshire in 1698 and held the seat for ten years.

He succeeded his father as 4th Baronet Bagot of Blithfield on 15 February 1705.

Edward died in May 1712.
