Maria Elisabeth was the second of seven children born to Matthias Bahn and his first wife Anna Christina Schumacher,[1] in the community of Holzlar on the east side of the Rhein River across from Bonn. Holzlar was likely then part of the Electorate of Cologne (Kurfürstentum Köln), a principality in the Holy Roman Empire (Sacrum Romanum Imperium). After her mother died, her father married a second time to Gertrude Lütz and had seven more children.
Maria Elisabeth married Arnold Busch, a man 39 years her senior, when she was 28. She died one year later in the nearby community of Vilich.
