William was born in 1885.[1] He was the son of William Baildon and Isabella Gow.
He was working as a carpenter employed by the Education Department of the NZ Government when the 1st World War broke out. He enlisted and served as a Corporal with Reinforcements H Company, New Zealand Rifle Brigade. His next of kin was recorded as Mrs Isabella Baildon (mother), 166 Great North Road, Arch Hill, Auckland, New Zealand.
EMBARKATION DETAILS: WW1 16 Jul 1917-16 September 1917 to Liverpool, Merseyside HMNZT 88. Vessel was Athenic.
He was killed in action the field in Belgium in 1918.[2][3]
