Robert Lester Bailey was born on 12 Aug 1894 in Ulmarra, New South Wales, Australia as the twelfth child of William Thorton Bailey Snr and Mary Ann Fernance. He had twelve siblings, namely: George, William Thornton Jnr, Emily Mary, Elizabeth, Mabel Susannah, Violet Ann, Christina Vida May, John Leonard, Charles Irwin, Malinda, Henry Gordon, and Lurline. He died on 09 Jan 1968 in Singleton, New South Wales, Australia. When he was 22, he married Florence May Martin, daughter of Thomas Martin and Lucy Emily Wood, on 17 Feb 1917 in Singleton, New South Wales, Australia.

Robert Lester Bailey and Florence May Martin had the following children:

• Robert served in World War 2 in Australian Army ( N288671) from April 8, 1942 until December 12, 1943. At time of Discharge he was a Captain with Volunteer Defence Corps.
