A surprise' birthday party was sprung upon Mr. T. Bailey, of Frankston Nursery, on the evening of April 15 by Mr. and Mrs Devanny and about 20 guests. An appetising birth day feast was arranged by the hostess and congratulatory speeches were made by Cr.F. H. Wells and Mr. A. Ewers. Mr. Bailey suitably responded. Mr. Bailey was the recipient of manly valuable and u:eful presents. Music and social intercourse made the evening pass all too quickly, and the party was not terminated till the small hours of next morning. Mr. F. Hanton at the piano delighted the gathering. Some of the good old. songs were sung by -Mr. F. Wells, I senr. and Mr. R. Wells. A radio set kindly loaned and installed for the occasion by Mr. J. H. Schulz was greatly appreciated. The singing .of, For He's a Jolly Good Fellow and Auld Lang Syne. concluded a party which had been crammed with merriment and good fellowship. (2)
