George and Emily Longman married on the 12th of December 1840 in Cranbourne. George's profession is listed as labourer. George's father, Matthew is listed as a yeoman. William Bailey and Caroline Longman sign as a witnesses. Both bride and groom were 20 years old at the time and lived in Verwood. Emily's father is named as Stephen and he is also a labourer.
In 1851, George aged 30 and married to Emily aged 30. They live next door to a Matthew Bailey. Matthew is 65 or 68 and is a farmer of 50 acres, married to Ann (54) and employs three people. Interestingly though, Matthew has a daughter in law listed as Ann Longman who is 24 years old living with them that night with two other children Job aged 14 and James 11. Also living next door is Easu Bailey aged 27 with his wife Mary (27) and two children, Mark (4) and Joel (2). Job and George have their occupations listed as labourers and Easu is a Potters labourer.
By 1881, George is a Farmer (self employed) and has one child farming with him in Gotham.
George dies at the age of 77 and is buried on the 25 Jun 1897 in Edmondsham. [1]
