Biography

James D. Bailey was born 30 September 1812 in Hopkins County, Kentucky.[1] He was the son of James Bailey and Parthenia.

On 9 May 1833, in Hopkins County, he married Zilpha Graddy[2], daughter of Frederick Graddy and Nancy (Kornegay) Graddy. They had the following known children:

He lived and farmed in Hopkins County, Kentucky his entire life. Zilpha died February 1880 and James died 10 August 1880. They are buried in Flat Creek Cemetery in Mortons Gap, Hopkins, Kentucky.[1]

Research Notes

Middle Name: His middle name shown on his son Frederick's death certificate is Dawson.[8] His middle name might be Davidson as indicated in his Find A Grave memorial. Some researchers believe his middle name was Doss. The name inscribed on his tombstone is James D. Bailey.
