NY), a farmer; his wife of 33 years, Lucy J., 53, b. Indiana in April 1847 (parents b. Ohio), who had had twelve children, ten of whom were living; their children, all b. Iowa, Mary, 21, b. June 1879; Elzaida, 20, b. July 1880; Sarah, 19, b. Dec. 1881; Hattie, 16, b. April 1884; Laura, 12, b. Feb. 1888; and Marion, 27, b. Dec. 1873, a farmer.[2]

M.E. Bailey, 30, and Myrtle Mullihan, 27, were married on 31 March 1903 in Collins, Story, Iowa. Myrtle was the daughter of J.P Mullihan and Adaline F. Snyder. M.E. Bailey was the son of J.E. Bailey and Lucy Jane Dempsey.[4]
In 1915, Marion E. Bailey (and family) lived in Poweshiek Township, Jasper County, Iowa, post office Farrar, Polk, Iowa. Marion, 41, was born in Iowa, as were his parents. He was a farmer, who owned his property, valued at $12000, without a mortgage. He had 12 years of school, and earned $1000 in the previous year.[5]
In 1918, Marion E. and Myrtle Bailey lived in Mingo, Jasper, Iowa when Marion registered for the WWI Draft on 12 September 1918 in Jasper County, Iowa. He was 44, born 8 December 1873, and he was a farmer. He was tall and slender, with brown eyes and dark hair.[6]
In 1940, they lived on their rented farm in Poweshiek, Jasper, Iowa. Marion E. Bailey, 66, was a farmer, who also had an outside income. His wife Myrtle was 63. They both had completed the eighth grade.[7]
Marion Edwin Bailey, 66, a farmer, died of congestive heart failure after a 21 day stay at Skiff Hospital, Newton, Jasper, Iowa, on 3 November 1940. He was born on 8 December 1873, the son of James E. and Lucy Jane Bailey (both born in Indiana. Marion had lived his entire life in Farrar, Polk, Iowa. Marion’s wife Myrtle, 63, was the informant to his death. [8]
Marion E. Bailey is buried with his wife at Franklin Cemetery, Franklin Township, Iowa.[9]
