Biography

DeFord Bailey Jr. is a part of US Black heritage.

DeFord was born in 1932. He was the son of DeFord Bailey Sr. (1899-1982) and Ida (Lee) Bailey-Haynes (1914-2009).

In the 1940 census Deford (age 8) was the son of De Ford Bailey in Nashville, Davidson, Tennessee, United States.^[1]

In the 1950 census Defoe (age 17) was the never married son of Defoe Baily in Nashville, Davidson, Tennessee, United States.^[2]

Deford died (age 81) on 15 September 2013.^[3]

DeFord BAILEY, JR., age 81 of Nashville. Called home to rest September 15, 2013. He was the son of Country Music Hall of Famer, DeFord Bailey, Sr. He leaves behind 2 caring sisters, 10 devoted children, 26 loving grandchildren & 29 great-grandchildren. He was a true legend in Rhythm and Blues, and he inspired musicians throughout the music industry. Visitation with family Friday, 12-6 p.m., at Terrell Broady Funeral Home, 3855 Clarksville Pike. Visitation Saturday, 11-12 Noon, with funeral to follow at Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church, 1300 South St., Pastor Michael Broadnax, Eulogist. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery Main
