Florence was born in Hertfordshire, England about 1872. Immigration Florence came to Australia in 1894 aboard the SS India. Her mother Rhoda bravely travelled with all 7 of her children after her husband died. Florence will have been 23 yrs. Q'land archives data search shows this. She then married in Brisbane, Queensland, in a wedding ceremony shared with her sister, a double wedding. She had 4 sons. The first was born in Brisbane and the rest in New Zealand. She moved with her family to her husband's native New Zealand.

After her husband Alexander died Florence went on to marry again. Records show she married her husbands uncle. James Rintoul in 1923 in a registry office in Auckland.
