On the surface, we felt finding and researching Dennis would be next to impossible based on the almost total lack of information we had of him. At least this was our notion 1/24/10. Still elusive, while continuing our research on his sister Vernada, we were greatly astonished in locating him (1/30/10) in the 1930 census. Please keep in mind Anthony's family of Pops, Dennis, Lillie, and Vernada were unknown and only recently discovered. In the family of five known people, Dennis would be Pops's younger brother next in line with only two years separation. Based on the records, he was 5'7, 175 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes. Moreover, Margarita located both WWI and WWII draft registration cards which shed much additional information about him and his wife, Carrie. No longer a phantom relative, we actually have real persona here, a man that was not content to live out his life in a small setting i.e., the farm or Palestine but chose, with I'm sure great ambition, to migrate north to Chicago to seek a more fulfilling life. Somewhere along the way, he gained the somewhat unusual occupation as a tailor (no other relatives sought this profession that we see). We credit him for having forethought and independence of mind in what he was to make of things. In fact, and not content with his earlier position, at the age of 55 we see that he was involved with real estate. In the Chicago area, he and Carrie lived at least at three addresses: 65th & Evans Ave., 749 "Frect"? Ave., and 644 E. 151st Place, Phoenix, Ill. After living in Chicago and based on his death certificate, he lived at 5130 East Lindon St. in Tucson, Pima County, Arizona. Towards the end of his life, the home ties were strong as he returned to Palestine, Anderson Co. and died there May 31, 1957.

An entry regarding Dennis Sherman on www.findagrave.com website incorrectly states that he was born in 1877 not 1887 per the death certificate and draft registration cards. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/178835450/dennis-sherman-bailey
