Hi, Robert!

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s VERY IMPORTANT to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hello Robert,

As others have noted on your profile below, it's required that you add qualified sources, especially to pre-1700 profiles such as that of Thomas Perkins (1582-1661). Please review the profiles you manage and add qualified sources. The helpful pages have already been cited, below. ~ Deb

Thank you Robert for your help with Elena (Cokayne) Barley's profile. I've changed the LNAB, and added a source, though not a brilliant one, as I can't find a Sir Thomas Cokayne who might be her father. Cox may be quoting Vincent Eyre, whose 1731 pedigree of the Barley/Bayley family is highly suspect, and probably the origin of the Dubious Pedigree referred to in this current G2G proposal: https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1622070/disproven-existence-notice-bayley-line-1175-1361-derbyshire

Hi Robert,

I noticed you've added a couple of pre-1700 profiles this morning, posting only "Ancestry.com" as a source. This is just a reminder that this is not sufficient to use as a source for any profile on WikiTree. It requires more of a description about WHERE on Ancestry the source was found - which collection, tree, etc., and preferably a link to it as well. In addition, our pre-1700 profiles have stricter standards for reliable sources, which would not include a family tree. To properly add these older profiles, you should first find at least one appropriate reliable source according to WikiTree's pre-1700 guidelines, and cite that source at the time the profile is created.

I recommend that you go back to the two pre-1700 profiles that I noticed - Le_leu-81 and Barquet-17 and find and cite at least one or more reliable sources. If you used a tree, you can specify a link to that tree, but would still need to find a reliable source to validate these pre-1700 profiles.

Hope this helps, and Thanks for your contributions to WikiTree!

Hi Robert,

I have an interest in these profiles you made, some of which are of people in Gloucestershire. At the moment though it's hard to see what else can be used to add to the profile. Please would it be possible to relate the sources used for these:

Pre-1700 profiles should contain at least one source eg. wills/ parish records etc. to enable everyone to understand or verify the research that has gone into it. Online family trees such as geni etc. might contain inaccuracies so are usually not the best source.

These are some helpful pages:

Many thanks,

David,
