There are many Brandons in the Union County, South Carolina area.
Dr. Clifton BRANDON in the 1850 Pickens County, AL Census, age 38, born in SC. Listed with him are Mary S. female age 27 born SC; Malsey V. female age 6 born SC; and Vitorine female age 4 born SC. Found on index, GET: AL 1860 CENSUS, PICKENS CO., AL 1860 BRANDONRICHARD# 840T: PLEASANT GROVEB653 in 1880 Pickens Co, AL Census, Richard's son George W. Brandon said he was born in MS, (?)and his parents were born in SC. Mary Gardner? was Richard Clifford Brandon's second wife. John Rice Brandon (12 Jan, 1829-27 Oct 1903, B. SC, lived Pickens Co, AL, married Charlotte Kirk) is said to have been related to Richard Clifton Brandon. A J. B. Brandon, age 21, Farmer, born SC and wife Charlotte, age 20, born SC, is found on the 1850 Census in the home of George Brandon, age 70, Farmer, born SC. I believe this is John Rice. One of his great great grandsons doing research in the Carrollton Courthouse said that Dr. Brandon had practiced all those years but only got paid in produce, etc. and died penniless. They said people in the community bought his grave marker.
