Biography

Andrew was born about 1707, the son of Andrew Bailie, sen., of Tirnaskea (Bayly), parish of Desertcreat, county Tyrone.[1] On the 26th January 1738, a marriage settlement was agreed on the occasion of the intended marriage of Andrew Bailie, jun., of Stewartstown, gent., with Sarah Kennedy, daughter of the Rev. Thomas Kennedy of Brigh, parish of Ballyclog, county Tyrone.[2]

Research notes

  • Uncertain Family: The will of Andrew Bailie of Cookstown (parish of Derryloran) was proved in 1696.[3] The will survives and should be consulted to confirm whether this elder Andrew of Cookstown was father to the younger Andrew of Stewartstown. ~Kilpatrick-1128
  • Dr Bailie died sometime before 1741 when his wife's son, Thomas Kennedy, was born from her second marriage.
