Biography

Peter was born in 1898. He is the son of John Baillie and Ann Moir.

1901 The Scotland census of 1901 records: John Baillie age 50, a Shoemaker born Saltcoats, Ayrshire, Scotland was living with his wife Ann (Moir) Baillie age 42 born Stonehaven, Kincardineshire, Scotland in Douglas Street, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland with their children: Hugh age 20, an Iron Turner, born Maybole, Ayrshire; John age 17, an Iron Moulder born Maybole Ayrshire; James age 8; Alexander age 6 and Peter age 3, all born Kilmarnock, Ayrshire.

1911 The Scotland census of 1911 records: John Baillie age 59, a Shoemaker at a Boot Factory born Saltcoats, Ayrshire, Scotland was living with his wife Ann (Moir) Baillie age 53 born Stonehaven, Kincardineshire, Scotland in 18 Douglas Street, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland with their children: James age 18 Coach-Painter (Appr.); Alick (Alexander) age 16 Cloth Finisher (Appr.) and Peter age 13 a Scholar, all born Kilmarnock, Ayrshire. The census records Ann having been married 31 years having had seven children being born alive with three still living.

1918 Peter Gray Baillie, Blockcutter and Corporal in 3rd Royal Scots Fusiliers usual address 18 Douglas Street, Kilmarnock, current Fort Matilda Gourock married Jeanie Paterson, Munition Worker address 14 East Shaw Street, Kilmarnock on 4th October 1918 at 14 East Shaw Street, Kilmarnock. Witnesses were Peter's brother Alexander Baillie and Jeanie's mother Elizabeth (Cooper) Paterson.

1919 John Baillie died on 7th January 1919 at 18 Douglas Street, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland, aged 67, certified cause of death, carcinoma of the bladder. The informant to the Registrar was his son Peter G. Baillie.[1]

1942 Peter Baillie, Engineer's Machinist, died on 27th November 1942 at Kaimshill Sanatorium, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland (usual residence 18 Granger Road, Kilmarnock, aged 45, certified cause of death, pulmonary tuberculosis. The informant was his brother James Moir Baillie.[2]
