At the time of her marriage in 1870, Sarah was living at 27 Main St, Bridgeton, Glasgow. Her marriage certificate indicated that she was born c1849 which is consistent with details given on the 1901 Census. Her father, Robert Baillie was described as a Hostler and her mother's name was given as Mary Jane McKIE or McVEE.
Sarah and three children have been identified on the 1901 Census at Conlig, Bangor, Co. Down, Northern Ireland: Sarah MARTIN, wife, Church of Ireland, Could not Read/Write, 52 yrs, marr. born Newtownards, Down. John MARTIN, son, Could not R/W, 22 yrs, Railway Labourer, unm, born Glasgow, Scotland. James MARTIN, son, R/W, 11 yrs, Scholar, born Conlig. Jane MARTIN, g.dau, 4 yrs, Scholar, born Conlig.
Although her husband, Robert could not be identified. Sarah's son Robert and his wife Sarah are also noted on this census.
This information led to the discovery that Sarah and her husband had infact married in Glasgow, Scotland and that their elder children were born there also.
Details of Sarah's death are not known at this time, but she did not appear on the 1911 census for Northern Ireland.
