Biography

James Moir Baillie was born in 1892. He passed away in 1960. He is the son of John Baillie and Ann Moir.

1892 James Moir Baillie was born in 18 Douglas Street, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland on 2nd August 1892.[1]

1901 The Scotland census of 1901 records: John Baillie age 50, a Shoemaker born Saltcoats, Ayrshire, Scotland was living with his wife Ann (Moir) Baillie age 42 born Stonehaven, Kincardineshire, Scotland in Douglas Street, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland with their children: Hugh age 20, an Iron Turner, born Maybole, Ayrshire; John age 17, an Iron Moulder born Maybole Ayrshire; James age 8; Alexander age 6 and Peter age 3, all born Kilmarnock, Ayrshire.

1911 The Scotland census of 1911 records: John Baillie age 59, a Shoemaker at a Boot Factory born Saltcoats, Ayrshire, Scotland was living with his wife Ann (Moir) Baillie age 53 born Stonehaven, Kincardineshire, Scotland in 18 Douglas Street, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland with their children: James age 18 Coach-Painter (Appr.); Alick (Alexander) age 16 Cloth Finisher (Appr.) and Peter age 13 a Scholar, all born Kilmarnock, Ayrshire. The census records Ann having been married 31 years having had seven children being born alive with three still living.

1915 James Moir Baillie entered military service at the age of 22 years for the 32 Signal, 206th Field Company, Royal Engineers[2].

1921 James Moir Baillie, Coach Painter, of 18 Douglas Street, Kilmarnock, married Helen Thomson Miller, Domestic Servant, of 3 Gilmour Street, Kilmarnock, in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland on 29th July 1921 at Oddfellows Hall, John Finnie Street, Kilmarnock. The witnesses were James Beattie and Margaret Miller.[3]

1923 James Moir Baillie and Helen Thomson (Miller) Baillie had their only child Martha McCulloch Baillie who was known as Pattie.

1940 James Moir Baillie's first wife Helen (Miller) Baillie passed away on 25th March 1940.

1945 James Moir baillie married his second wife Helen Clelland Wallace in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland.[4]

1946 James Moir Baillie was present when Eric Arthur Goodwin, bachelor, Butcher, residing at 41 Shaw Street, Derby, England married his daughter Martha (Pat) McCulloch Baillie, Womens Land Army, spinster residing at 85 Culzean Crescent, Kilmarnock in the Old High Kirk, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland on 7th December 1946.[5]

1960 James Moir Baillie Coach Painter (Retired) passed away aged 67 years on 23rd February 1960 at his home, 85 Culzean Crescent, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland. The certified cause of death was Cerebral Heamorrhage. The Informant was his daughter Martha (Baillie) Goodwin who lived at 48 Shaw Street, Derby, England.[6]
