Florence was born in 1875. She was the daughter of Robert Bain and Sarah Woof. She passed away in 1953.
Her mother passed away when Florence was about 10 years old. Her father remarried and had another 7 children with his second wife.
Florence married her first husband, William HILL, in about 1900. According to the 1901 Irish Census they lived in Drumaness, County Down, Ireland. There was a large linen flax mill in Drumaness and most of the area's inhabitants worked in the flax/linen industry.
Florence and William HILL had three children together (John, Irwin and Florence). William Hill appears to have died in about 1906.
In 1910 Florence marries a fellow widower, Alexander GABBEY, to form a melded family. According to the 1911 Irish Census, the are living in Belfast (Ormeau Road). She has a daughter, Agnes , with her second husband. (Later they will have another daughter named Eleanor). Alexander had a son named Norman from a previous marriage.
Her son John HILL dies at age 12 in 1913.
Her husband enlists in the British Army and serves as a rifleman with the Royal Irish Rifles (Royal Ulster Rifles ) in World War One. He is awarded the British War Medal and Victory Medal at the end of the war.
In 1918, Florence's son Irwin dies at the age of 15.
Florence and her family immigrated to the USA in 1920. Her husband Alex immigrated first with son Norman in April 1920 aboard the Kaiserin Augusta Victoria. Florence followed with her three daughters (Agnes, Eleanor and Florence) via the Kaiserin Augusta Victoria, leaving Liverpool on September 25, 1920.
They settled in Manchester, Connecticut.
Florence died on June 1, 1953 at age 78.
