From there he went up to Trinity College Cambridge, where he was awarded a 1st Class Honours degree in Law. He was also awarded the Chancellor's Medal for Legal Studies.[1]
He married Ellen Mary Werge n 24 APR 1860 in Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire.[5]
He was called to the Bar at the Inner Temple in 1864.[1]
In 1871, he is living with his wife and 6 children in Esher and is recorded as a barrister.[6]
