John Baird born February 6, 1707[2]

John had a plantation in Lower Freehold Township, Monmouth county, N.J.

Marriage: 1726, Monmouth, NJ Avis Bowne and John Baird

The will of John Baird, Jr., dated February 5, 1747/8, probated July 5, 1749, and recorded in Book E of Wills, page 310, in the State of Archives at Trenton, N.J., names his sons Andrew and Zebulon, his wife, and Peter Bowne executors of the will. He left his estate in Monmonth County, New Jersey, to his wife, Avis.

He is buried in the old Topenemus yard, N.J.

Note: The Glenn book says his will was dated 1747/48. This is not found among Pennsylvania wills. The 1918 book by Catchings says it was made in New Jersey and mentions Avis and oldest son William. Glenn says they probably also had children named Mary, John, Alexander, and Elizabeth.
James Baird (along with John Gilliland) was a resident of Hanover Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, in 1759. William Baird of Hanover died before 1758; he had sons John and William. There was also a James Baird (relationship unknown) who died in 1770.
In Lancaster County there is a 1758 will for James Beard, which mentions wife Sarah, brothers William, James, and John, and sisters Margaret and Jennet. Executors were James and William Wilson of Hanover.

John Baird was in a U.S., Sons of the American Revolution Membership Applications, 1889-1970 on 13 Dec 1952, which shows: Birth Date: 27 Jan 1699; Death Date: 7 Feb 1747. [3]

Baird-276 and Baird-1388 appear to represent the same person because: Same person. Date of birth is firm, but death came after will was written Feb 5, 1748 but before probate July 5, 1749. Many have called his wife's surname Browne rather than Bowne, but the latter appears correct because a Peter Bowne witnessed Baird's will--probably a brother-in-law. Others just list both as separate spouses. I have added some brief bio info in my version.
