For most of my life, my Uncle Joe lived in the first nations reserve near Cheanuh Marina in Sooke, BC. He wasn't first nations, but the band allowed him to stay as long as he paid his rent. I always liked to visit him there because there were plenty of other children to play with on the reserve. Uncle Joe and my dad would stay up late playing guitar and we would have a campfire almost every night. Uncle Joe was an amazing guitarist and particularly liked old country music. He was always trying to teach me something; whether it was how to play guitar or helping me with my math homework.
