Biography

Jonathan Baker was born circa 1730, the son of Jonathan Baker and Elizabeth Trask of Salem, Mass[1]

He married Priscilla Crosby on May 23, 1764 in Massachusetts before emigrating to Nova Scotia. They were among the first settlers of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia[2] [3] [4] [5]

Their children included:

  1. Eleazar, born February 25, 1766, who married Martha Sawyer
  2. Horace, born January 23, 1768, who married Wealthy Clements, daughter of Captain John Clements 1st on January 10, 1793, and then married Mary (Bernard) Dane, widow of Thomas Dane; and who died December 7, 1836
  3. Jonathan 2nd, born November 6, 1769, who married Hannah Clements, daughter of Captain John 2nd, December 20, 1790
  4. Edward, born 1776, who married Remembrance Ellis, daughter of Phillip, and then married Mary (Power) Black, widow of Robert Kirkland Black; and who died November 23, 1855
  5. Nathan, who married Susanna, and who died March 18, 1845
  6. Priscilla, born 1781, who married Thomas Brown, son of Benjamin, and died July 25, 1863
  7. Amos, born November 8, 1783, who married Elizabeth Corning, daughter of Ebenezer. Amos and Elizabeth had no children, Amos was a ship's Captain and a Justice of the Peace. He died August 14, 1855
  8. Anna, born July 2, 1786, who married Captain Benjamin Redding 3rd and died December 13, 1834
