Biography

George Baker (1805-1897) was an early resident of Jeddore, Nova Scotia. He married Catherine Harpell (1800-1871, daughter of John Harpell and Elizabeth Arnold)[1], and had a number of children in Jeddore with her.

They had:

  1. George Baker, b. February 07, 1827; d. December 1846.
  2. Mary Anne (Annie) Baker, b. August 30, 1829; m. George Greenough.
  3. John George Baker, b. December 10, 1830; d. October 09, 1911; m. Amelia Woodland.
  4. William Henry Baker, b. October 10, 1833; d. May 10, 1844.
  5. David Harris Baker, b. October 24, 1834; m. Maria Waterman.
  6. Mary Pauline Baker, b. December 23, 1837, West Jeddore, d. August 07, 1892; m. Alexander Samuel Mitchell
  7. Catherine Baker, b. October 05, 1839; m. Patrick Woodland.

Note

According to another (unsourced) website, he was born to Benjamin Baker (mother unknown) in Nova Scotia in 1804, and married a Catherine Harpell[2]. Some of this is supported by the marriage record of his daughter Catherine, to Patrick Woodland in 1865[3], which states her father is G. Baker, and mother is Cath Harpell.
