About 20 years ago, my sister, Sharon Baker Gillespie, and I made a trip to Scott and Russell Counties in Virginia to learn what we could about our ancestry. We talked to a lot of folks. One very, elderly Baker lady told us that when she was a little girl people used to talk about James Baker in whispers. She occasionally caught a few words, here or there. She said that she believed John and Elizabeth Baker were not really James' parents. Some thought James belonged to one of their daughters and a Dickerson man. He was a high ranking government official. She said she never really found out anything else. It was all hush-hush.

It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:
Baker-35602 and Baker-6582 appear to represent the same person because: I have the name different than but it is the same person please merge. I am sure there are others that I have done the same thing. Sorry. Thanks
