Biography

Note: His family came from the Bakers of Bakers Forge in Campbell County, Tennessee, among whom variants of the given name "Bolling" and "Bowling" were used. This was probably the origin of his name.

Missouri Records

He appears with his family in the 1850 census in Platte County, Missouri, as "Bowlin" Baker, farmer, born in Tennessee. He was 16.

He appears in the 1860 census in Crawford Township, Osage County, Missouri, as "Bolin Backer," day laborer, born in Tennessee. He was 27. Also in the household was Malindy Baker, 18. (His parents and two brothers are listed in Jefferson Township, Osage County, in the 1860 census.)

He appears in the 1870 census in Jefferson Township, Osage County, Missouri, as "Bolen" Baker, laborer, born in Tennessee. He was 36. He is listed in the household of John Lewis, 21, farmhand and Martha Lewis, 18.

Arkansas Records

More records are needed to establish this connection, but this seems to be the same "Bolen" or "Beauregard" or "Bo" Baker that lived in Baxter County, Arkansas, and died there circa 1898.

He had several children including Henry Baker (1895–1955).
