Biography

According to the Tancook Island Gedcom project Frederick Baker was born to John Jacob Baker and Judith Cross about 1807. He married Barbara Ann Heisler on Apr 11, 1839 and their family were as follows. Unfortunately this family moved away to Jeddore area of Halifax County so the GEDCOM details on them are very sparse;[1]

  • Margery - Born MAR 22 1840
  • Ephraim Edward - Born Dec 13 1841
  • Ezra Nathaniel - Born Nov 14 1843
  • George Enos - Born Jun 3 1845
  • Stephen - Born May 24 1847
  • John
  • Samuel
  • Parker
  • Solomon
  • Caroline

Further research at "The Descendants of Frederick Baker" by Howard Blaxland seems to agree with the above list and has more details;[2]

  • Margery Ann b. 22 MARCH 1840.
  • Ephraim E. b. ABT 1842.
  • Azariah b. 14 Nov 1843.
  • George Enos b. 3 JUNE 1845.
  • Stephen b. ABT 1847.
  • Solomon b. ABT 1849 in East Jeddore, NS, d. BEF 1871 in Drowned.
  • John Henry b. 14 Feb 1851.
  • Gloria b. ABT 1853 in East Jeddore, NS.
  • Eli b. 24 Dec 1855.
  • Caroline b. ABT 1857.
  • Samuel Bell b. 19 APRIL 1859.
  • Obediah Parker b. 8 Oct 1864 in East Jeddore, NS, d. 1 Feb 1881 in Jeddore, NS.

Frederick Baker (56) passed on Jul 23, 1870 due to an accident at Jeddore, NS.[3] This is backed up by the census from 1871 which sees Barbara on her own as a widow (51) with their children; John (18), Gloria (15), Caroline (13), Samuel (11) and Parker (8).[4]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Frederick by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Frederick:
