Biography

In 1812 Ira and his brother Amos came from New York with their parents Samuel and Polly Baker and settled near Mink Hollow, (Brookfield Village). Ira Baker married Sarah Brown, daughter of John H Brown.

Church services were first held in private homes and the first recorded church record in 1813 listed Ira, Amos and Samuel Baker with their wives.

Ira and Sally were the parents of 8 children. Polly, Erie, Lucinda, Isaac, Edward, James, Ruth, and David.

It is unknown where in the area Ira's parents Samuel and Polly are buried. They were listed in the 1820 census in Deerfield next to Ira and Amos. It's possible they were buried on their farm.
