Pierre Nicolas Balant, son of Pierre Balant, and Charlotte Angélique Gagné dite Belavance, daughter of Alexis Belavance, were married on 4 May 1745 in Cap-Saint-Ignace, in the presence of Basil Bernier, Pierre Plancon (or Plançon), witnesses for the groom, and Alexis Bellavance father of the bride, Étienne Alexis Louis Gagnier brother, Louis & François Gagnier witnesses, the vicar Benjamin Degagnier who (declared has been scribbled over) signed with the priest, the others stating they could not sign when asked per the ordinance, the groom signed Pierre Nicolas Balan with the priest and Benjamin Degagné. (neither mother is named on this record).[2][3][4]
