Miriam Balcomb was born in Fish River on 5 October 1855. She was the daughter of Thomas Balcomb & Elizabeth Enright.[1]

Miriam died at Parkes, NSW on 4 January 1946.[12][13][14][15]
Mrs. Miriam Nash, wife of Mr. William Iram Nash, the oldest Methodist in the Parkes district, died recently at the age of 90. Born near Oberon, a daughter of the late Thomas Balcombe, she grew up in the Cranbury-Toogong district. Some 65 years ago she came to "The Currajong' as a bride, when the late H. H. Cooke was the 'postmaster and storekeeper. In those days her home was very frequently visited by the blacks, who lived in hundreds in the vicinity.
Mr. and Mrs. Nash worshipped in the first church at Currajong, and later at Parkes. When their family of 7 went with them, all drove the five miles to Parkes Church every Sunday morning in a 'sociable' with a pair of horses. Their home was named "The Retreat" and many a Methodist Minister will remember a period of rest and recuperation spent at that home. Family prayer and Bible reading formed part of the meal. Two of the sons are now Presbyterian Ministers in U.S.A., and one is a Doctor of Philosophy and lecturer in Bible History and Homilectics at the Dallas University, Texas.
Mr. and Mrs. Nash are related to a fair proportion of the ministry. The aged widower, 'whose eye is not dim, nor his natural force abated," will be very lonely, but is sustained by the loving prayers of a large circle of friends. Up to within a few weeks of her passing, Mr. and Mrs. Nash came to church in their car, Mr. Nash driving. Her last illness was of only a few days' duration. The services at the church and cemetery were conducted by Rev. G. Stuart Udy, assisted by Mr. W. W. Watson; a service of remembrance was also held on the following Sunday
