The new article by Stewart Baldwin uses 1671, saying "The birth of his first wife in 1668 would seem to suggest an earlier date, while his survival until 1757 would seem to suggest a later date. The estimate given here is probably not off by more than a few years." On the other hand, an argument may be made for the most common date on Ancestry trees (which I don't know) because that would make it less likely for duplicate profiles to be created in the future.
