1. THE MATAHURA RIDING FATALITY. Waikato Times, Volume LIV, Issue 6332, 25 January 1904, Page 2.
"An inquest was held at the Huntly Hotel on Saturday before Mr J. S. Bond, coroner, on the death of Thomas Baldwin, a youth of 18, who as already recorded, was thrown from a horse at Matahura on Thursday and died at the Huntly Hotel on Friday, while being removed to the Waikato Hospital."

"A young man named Thomas Baldwin, died in Huntly to-day, on his way to the Hamilton Hospital. Deceased, who has been employed by Messrs Hill Bros., ac Matahura, was thrown from his horse yesterday, and dragged some distance along the road."
