Biography

Nathaniel Baldwin, born Jan 2 1645, in Milford, Connecticut, and baptized in 1646; was the son of Nathaniel Baldwin and Abigail Camp.[1]

Nathaniel was a Weaver, and married March 12 1670/1, Hannah Botsford,[2] daughter of Henry Botsford,[3] and sister to Nathaniel's brother Daniel's wife, Elizabeth Botsford.[1]

His father-in-law made a will, dated July 1, 1685, remembering his "son-n-law, Nathaniel Baldwin, and the four children he had by my daughter Hannah". These four children were; Elizabeth, Hannah, Ester, and Samuel.[4] Hannah must have died before July 1, 1685, as she is not mentioned in her father's will.[4]

Nathaniel must have married a 3rd time because in his will he remembers his current wife Elizabeth.[4]

Nathaniel Baldwin's will is dated June 8, 1714; proved in New Haven Probate, June 22, 1714; in which he mentions his current wife Elizabeth; to son and daughter Elizabeth, and Stephen Parmelee, on condition of payment to Samuel Sanford, of Newtown; to his son Samuel Sanford, of Newtown; to his son Samuel Sanford of Milford, who is sole executor.

Notes

Charles Baldwin states on pg 411, of his "Baldwin Genealogy from 1500-1881" "The mention of two Samuel Sanfords, at first seemed like a mistake; but I subsequently found, in Milford Records, a deed from one to the other"
