  • Harrietsham Church of England Primary School. "The original ragstone school in Church Road was founded in 1844 and built on part of Little Brickhouse Field. This land was given by William Baldwin Esq. He was the owner of Stede Court at the time and in effect, squire of Harrietsham. It is his coat of arms on the south face of the main building. The motto "Fortes semper monstrant misericardiam" means "The strong always show mercy". Money to build (£240) was raised by public subscription and local stone was given. From the beginning, the community was involved closely with the school. The first Harrietsham schoolmaster had his salary paid by the Trustees of the will of Sir Charles Booth & Baldwin Charity." https://www.kent-teach.com/microsites/30192/167/harrietsham-cep-school.aspx?Page=1392

  • BBC Domesday Reloaded: Stede Hill House (1986). "Stede hill occupies a prominent position on the south slope of the North Downs some nine miles east of Maidstone and little more than one mile north of the village of Harrietsham. It has been known by many names in the past, "Stedehill", "Stede Court", "Harrietsham Place", and "Harrietsham Hill". The external walling is of brick of unusual thickness, in places it measures three feet. Removal of the internal Georgian plasterwork this century, revealed Tudor arches. All the internal walls were timber framed with brick infilling. The beams carrying the first floor were elaborately moulded and a decorative plaster frieze carried motifs of the Tudor Rose and fleur-de lis. The original architecture has been changed by Georgian reconstruction." http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/domesday/dblock/GB-584000-153000/page/17
