He married Susan Almer (Glover) Baldwin (1814-1897) on the 24th of March 1831 in Hatley, Quebec. [2] They settled on No. 15, 8th range in Barford, Quebec where they raised their nine children.[3]
On Friday the 26th of September 1879 the Weekly Examiner reports the results of the Stanstead County Fair. Ira is listed in the Barford farms section taking first and second place awards for his wheat, oats and barley.[4]
In the 1881 Canadian census he was living with his daughter Lucretia's family in Barford.[5] He passed away on the 20th of February 1885. He was buried in the Dixville Cemetery.[6]
