David was born on 9 August 1800. His parents were Robert Balfour and Betty (Bimson) Balfour.. He was christened on 31 August 1800 at Wigan, Lancashire.[1] David first son of Robert Balfour of Haigh and Betty his wife, daughter of John and Ann Bimpson.[2]
