Biography

Samuel Ball was born on February 27, 1798, in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England, the son of Mary and Richard. He married Catherine Ann Street and they had nine children together: Daniel Street Ball 1819–1908; Ann Catherine Ball 1820–1897; Martha Ball 1822–; Emma Ball 1825–; Ruth Ball 1834–; John Wesley Ball 1834–1899; Thomas Ball 1836–; Jabez B. Ball 1837–1864; Samuel Ball 1840– . He then married Cynthia M McGlothlin and they had one daughter. He died on July 2, 1879, in Ravenswood, West Virginia, having lived a long life of 81 years, and was buried there.
