Biography

Samuel Ball was born on 17 July 1734 (Note that FAG memorial shows 6/17/1734) at Bloomfield, Essex Co., NJ. He was the son of John Ball. Samuel Ball married at least twice. He married his first wife Anne Miller, daughter of Aaron Miller, before 1760, based on the birth date of their first child .

Samuel Ball married Deborah Farrand (b. about 1744 according to math from headstone), daughter of Joseph Farrand and Sarah Crissy, about 1775. She had married Robert Plume before marrying Samuel, probably in 1764. He died in 1769.

(Emphasis added.)

Samuel Ball died on 12 January 1810 at Hanover, Morris Co., NJ, at age 75. He was buried at First Presbyterian Church, Hanover, Morris Co., NJ.

Notes

If Samuel's second wife was actually named Sarah Deborah Farrand, and if she died in 1806, why were pension papers filed in her name for her husband -- who died in 1810? (Or were they filed on behalf of someone else, and did they merely mention Deborah?)
