Biography

Joseph Ball Sr. was born circa 1815. He was the son of William Ball Jr and Margery Creel.

Joseph was listed in the 1850 Census, living in Defiance, Ohio. [1]

Marriage

Joseph married twice:
1. The widow Catharine (Searfoss) Hollebach in 1830 in Pickaway, Ohio.[2] He became stepfather to her daughter Mary Anne (Hollabaugh) Punches (1826-1911). They had 3 further children.

  1. George Washington Ball 1831–1917 • m. Emily Jane Schooley
  2. Joseph Ball II 1833–1905 • m. Mary Elizabeth Shrum
  3. Sarah Jane Ball 1841–1914 • m. William Henry Schooley

Catharine passed away in 1870.

2. Joseph next married Catharine Apple in Defiance, Ohio in 1870.[3]

Death

Joseph passed away 5 May 1875 (aged 59–60) in Defiance County, Ohio. He is buried in Cromley Cemetery, Defiance. Find A Grave: Memorial #128208261

Ball-22503 and Ball-9059 appear to represent the same person because: I made the parents, did a search for the son, found the son, and he already had parents, obviously the same people from Pickaway Ohio.
