Biography

Jeremiah Ballard married January 24 1753 Isabel Pierce. He resided in New Salem, Franklin, Massachusetts and was a soldier of the Revolution.

Jeremiah Ballard (IV) was a New Salem delegate to Constitutional Con., one of 177 selectman.

Captain Jeremiah Ballard served with 5th Regiment, Hampshire County Militia, Massachusetts Militia during the American Revolution.

Jeremiah Ballard is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A005529.

He was a Lieut. in 1776, a Captain in 1777 during the Revolutionary War. His service was "Enlisted in 1776 as Lieutenant in Capt. Samuel Taylor's company (5th Regiment, Hampshire County Militia) and in 1777 was Capt. of a company in Col. David Well's regiment (5th Regt, Hampshire Co, MA.) Also served with Colonel Nicholas Dike of Worcester County Militia, Massachusetts Militia.

He married Isabelle Pear(sic) (1734-1770?). In 1753 there were nine children; he was a farmer at that time and was active in the local defense as a result of the British threat of Saratoga.

His father was a grantee of New Salem.

Research Notes

I find lots of information from personal websites saying he married Isabel Pierce, trying to find reliable evidence.

Ballard Geneology

Didn't have a death date except for this website so who knows if it's accurate. http://www.yeoldewoburn.net/Ballard.htm Jeremiah was living at New Salem in 1815 when he executed a deed for the sale of his farm to his grandson.
