In his 1823 will, Elisha Ballard names dau. Elizabeth Spruill, negro boy named Stephen, dau. Mary Ann Sherrod, negro named Harty and her increase, negro girl named Lydia, one negro by named Solomon, dau. Zilpha Spruill, negro woman named Grace and her increase, negro girl named Fanny, son William E. Ballard, negro man named Benjamin, negro woman named Winiford and her increase, negro boy named George, negro boy named Isaac, son James E Ballard (posthumously) and (James' son?) William E. Ballard.
Joseph R. Ballard also acts as son William E. Ballard's's executor in 1827.
It would seem there could be multiple William E. Ballards in play here, but perhaps just one.
The will was proved in the June session, 1824.

Joshua Whitney, George Lawrence, Charles Lawrence, Elisha Ballard, Bennet Hillsman, ?
EDIT1: probably not, that was probably Elisha L. Ballard. EDIT2: after seeing Mills Lawrence's will abstract,l I retract edit 1 for now, it could be either of them.
