Biography
Sarah was born about 1847 in Monroe, Virginia, United States. She was the daughter of Riley Ballard and Amanda Cummings.
In the 1850 and 1860 US census, Sarah was living in Monroe, Virginia with her parents.[1][2]
Jaban A Noel and Sarah Clementine Ballard married on 1 May 1865 at Kanawha, West Virginia.[3] They had 10 children according to the 1900 census and 9 were still living then. They moved to Kansas about 1885.
Sarah's husband Jaban Noel died in 1890.
Joel Hammons and Sarah C Noel married on 4 Mar 1895 at Washington, Kansas.[4]
In the 1900 census, Sarah Hammons was age 52 living at Spring Creek Precinct, Nuckolls, Nebraska with her husband Joel Hammons (53), children Arther Hammons (20), May L Hammons (18), John M Hammons (16), Clarance L Hammons (12).[5]
Sarah died in 1918. She was buried at Highland Cemetery, Junction City, Geary, Kansas in the same grave as her first husband Jaban Noel.[6]
