Biography
Hugh was born in 1866 in Aghadowey, Coleraine, Londonderry, Ireland. He was a Reformed Presbyterian (later a member of the Church of Ireland) and agricultural labourer.
Hugh was the child of Hugh Balmer and his wife Rebecca Gray.
He married Rebecca Downs in 1900. By 1911 they had had five children, all surviving.
Hugh passed away in 1945.
