his descendents were influential in the Revolution beginning at Lexington with
Rev Aaron Bancroft b.1755 in Reading MA being a minuteman he also wrote a biography on Abraham Lincoln
His son George Bancroft b.1800 in Worcester MA wrote the HISTORY of the UNITED STATES
the plaque on his memorial BANCROFT TOWER states THIS TOWER WAS BUILT IN 1900 TO HONOR THE MEMORY OF
