Biography

My father was a farmer near Zurich ON. I was their only child as my parents were older--Mom 37 and Dad 53--when they had me. When I was 2, we moved to another farm between Thorndale and St. Marys ON where my father also farmed. Mom had resigned from high school teaching to marry, and in 1960, Dad retired from the farm and Mom returned to teaching in Mount Forest ON. I attended Gr. 7&8 and high school in Mount Forest. From there, I trained to be a radiological technologist in London at St. Joseph's Hospital. I then worked at Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest for about 18 months before returning to London to work in the nuclear medicine field. I got my registration in that in 1972. I married a co-worker, David Law, in 1973. We moved to the town of Perth in Lanark Co. the following spring where David worked in the x-ray department and I also did from time to time. Our three children were born there in 1976 and twins in 1978. My husband was born with severe congenital heart disease and had two surgeries while we lived in Perth. We moved to Stratford ON in 1980, and I have lived in this area ever since. My husband's heart condition got worse, and I had to take his place at work in Oct. 1981. He died in March 1983. I met and married a local farmer, Ivan Wilson, in Oct. 1985 and retired from my job to raise our three children. I got involved in family history and served in several positions with our local genealogical society. Our children are now all married, and we have five grandchildren. We are quite involved in our local church where I am treasurer, librarian, kitchen co-ordinator, board member, and Sunday School teacher. It's a very small church; what can I say?! My aim for this year is to get my family history organized and properly sourced.

Hello Marjorie,

How are you doing? Hope you're enjoying our site.

Our vision is to build a collaborative tree. Please make sure to look for duplicates on WikiTree before adding a profile. Having dates and locations attached to every person assists in our mission as well.

Feel free to check out How To Use WikiTree. It's a great step-by-step guide.

Also Help Index with links to topics you may have questions on. Don't forget our G2G Forum where many of our generous members help each other out.

And of course, I'm here to help in any way I’m able. Just ask!

Hi Marjorie,

Thanks for your Silas Hyatt entry. Hyatt's feature prominently in my family tree and Silas was a new name I had not seen before. I have done some preliminary research and I believe he fits into my tree...more work to do though...Brett Rutherford

Marjorie.

It sounds like you intend to upload a GEDCOM. Here's a link to a great step-by-step of our GEDCOM import process, (http://www.geneamusings.com/2013/12/adding-early-seaver-generations-to.html) including screenshots that you might find helpful. You might also want to check out our (http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:GEDCOMsGEDCOMS). Please keep in mind that our primary vision is to build a collaborative tree with just one profile per person, so please make sure to look for duplicates on WikiTree before adding a profile.

Although I have an extensive GEDCOM and have been researching my tree for over 28 years, I am going to re-enter my family so I (hopefully) provide proper sources which weren't a priority when I started. Wish me luck!
