DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with William:
Bandy-1081 and Bandy-260 appear to represent the same person because: Birth date matches. Children match. No other William Bandy of the correct age in Tazewell County census for: 1850; 1860; 1870; 1880. Same first wife. Parents of 260, as given in record of marriage to Malinda Woosley, match parents of 1081 given on listed source "Annals of Tazewell County."
1850 census: only one William Bandy of this age in Tazewell County. Married to Elenor/Ellen; children include Thomas, James, and William, whose ages match the same-nameschildren of Bandy-1081.
1860 census: only one William Bandy of this age in Tazewell County. Wife Ellen. Son William matches the age of Bandy-1081's son William (who is also the only William Bandy of that age in Tazewell County.)
1865 - William Bandy married Malinda Woosley; his marital status is listed as widower.
1870 - only one William Bandy of this age in Tazewell County; wife Malinda
1880 - only one William Bandy of this age in Tazewell County; wife Malinda
I've been working in genealogy for decades, I know about the possibility of duplicate names. There is no indication of more than one William Bandy of the correct age in Tazewell County in this time frame.
Bandy-1081 and Bandy-260 do not represent the same person because: I am rejecting this proposed merge because the children of Bandy-260 don't appear to match the children of Bandy-1081. Either there were two men in the region born around the same year with the same name, or there is one man and the list of his children has become confused in the record. Also please note that duplicate names in this region are common, and easy to confuse.
