Biography

William Bane (aka Bain/Bean) was born between 1740 and 1750, presumably in Argyll Shire Scotland. William and his brother, John Bane both came to Brook county, Virginia, where they lived and died near Roney's Point, close to the Giffens family. John and William each signed for each other in land transactions.

About 1789, in Brooks county, William married Mary Reid (aka Reed?) born in August, 1753. On May 11, 1811, William died at Tomlinson's Run, Brooks county, Virginia. After her husband's death, Mary moved to Harrison county, Ohio with their children. Mary (Reed) Bane died October 25, 1829 and was buried in the Beech Spring Cemetery, in Green Township, Harrison county, Ohio.
