Biography

Chalk burner in Creisfeld.

According to Wilhelm Bangert, the people of Thuringen and Saxony are apt to mix up their Bs and Ps and hence the name is often stated to be ‘Pangert’. WB would have no truck with this however and refused to point out those members of the family who used the ‘Pangert’ form. Hence, I have assumed that all members of this group could have called themselves either ‘Bangert’ or ‘Pangert’.
