Biography

Jane Banks was born about 1789 to Moses Banks and Judith Saunders [1]

When Jane Banks was born in 1791, in Wilmot, Annapolis, Nova Scotia, Canada, her father, Moses Banks, was 53 and her mother, Judith Saunders, was 40. She married Daniel Whitman Jr on 6 February 1821, in New Albany, Annapolis, Nova Scotia, Canada. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 4 daughters. She lived in Dalhousie, Annapolis, Nova Scotia, Canada for about 10 years. She died on 25 October 1887, in Annapolis, Nova Scotia, Canada, at the age of 96, and was buried in New Albany, Annapolis, Nova Scotia, Canada.

1811-1820 Records 19. Married 28 Feb 1811, Daniel WHITMAN, born 12 Jul 1791, son of Daniel WHITMAN, AND, Ann DYKEMAN. She died in May 1817. Daniel married (2nd) 6 Feb 1821, Jane BANKS. See source for 11 children.[2]

The above photo looks to be taken about 1862. The book "More Dating Old Photographs 1840-1929" has 2 photos of women in identical head wear on p. 21 and 22.for the years 1860-64. Also, a photo of Louisa Van Velsor Whitman, p. 19, dated 1851-60 shows a similar covering.
