Biography

Edward Prince Banks was born on 22 Nov 1811, in Danville, Maine, to Elias Banks and Lucretia (Prince) Banks.^[1].

Edward married Ellen Soule on September 25, 1853, in Maine. They are the parents of the genealogist Charles Edward Banks.^[2] and 3 other children, including: Martha Ellen Banks 1857-1923, George Bartol Banks 1861-1963, and Frederick Soule Banks 1864-1933.

Edward came to Portland, Maine as a boy to become an apprentice in the watchmaking and jewelry trade and when his freedom was obtained in due course he entered into business for himself in Portland.

He died on September 17, 1892, at the U. S. Marine Hospital, Portland, Maine, while on a visit to his eldest son. He lived a long life of 80 years, and was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Portland, Maine.
