Biography

David was born[1]in 1876. His first marriage was in 1903[2] to Virginia who died in 1918. In 1920, he married[3] Ella Maude Sanford, the daughter of Augustus Sanford and Esther Coffill. David died[4] in 1960, and was buried in Morristown[5]. His obituary[6] notes:

KENTVILLE -- David M. Banks, 84, a veteran of the First World War died at Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital here Thursday following a brief illness. Born in Aylesford, he was the son of the late George and Nancy (Marshall) Banks. Returning to Nova Scotia after the war, he engaged in carpenter work at West Kings then took up residence in Kentville in 1922 and continued his trade until he was 75. He was a member of the Kings Branch No. 6 (Kentville) Canadian Legion and the Morristown Baptist Church. Twice married, his first wife was the late Victoria Kessener of Virginia. By this union there are two sons, Lorin Banks, of Bancroft, Ont., and Myron Banks of Saugertis, New York. His second wife, who survives, is the former Ella Sanford of Scotts Bay. By this union there are two daughters, Freda (Mrs. Robert Margeson), Toronto, and Blanche (Mrs. Charles O'Leary), White Rock, Kings County; one brother, Fred Banks, Tampa, Fla. The remains are now resting at the H.C. Lindsay funeral home, Kentville, pending completion of funeral arrangements.
